An introduction to Bio
Universities, Governments, private and public Institutes, and the private sector are continually coming up with new ideas and technologies for the treatment and diagnosis of human diseases. Most, however, are early stage and usually require fairly extensive development in order to see the light of day in the market place. This normally requires transfer of the technology to the private sector where companies have, or can raise, the capital to invest in the development of these technologies. There is often a gap between the idea and the potential developer. One doesn’t know about the other. There are many reasons that may account for this – lack of marketing resources by the idea holder, geographical differences that make interactions difficult, inability of a market to perceive the potential of a new idea – but, whatever the cause, new forums for bringing together ideas and developers are needed. It is the desire of this site to help facilitate the marriage of technologies and markets.
In a few days we will present a brief study of new diabetes treatments and a potential market that has not been penetrated by the holders of these new treatments.
Please contibute articles, comments and information about the process of transferring these technologies from the lab to the marketplace.
